I got all the new floss bobbinated, organized and ready to use!
I used the little organizing hint I figured out while stitching up my Gryffindor Bookshelf hoop. This time I added the embroidery floss number and the designated symbol so I don’t have to back and forth between the pattern and the color key.
I also remembered that we had some extra menu covers that Bean used to practice writing his letter on, and decided to put this months pattern in it so I could easily mark off my progress with a dry erase marker or the little sticky tabs that I usually have on hand, and hopefully not miscount and screw up my stitches.
I decided to use some parchment colored Aida fabric because I thought it would be cute if the background looked like pie crust. Since the finished project is supposed to be about 10″ in diameter, I decided to use a 12″ Darcie hoop so I won’t have to struggle with space when tucking in threads on the edge of the piece.
This month’s pattern comes with the pie crust border design, a big pink bow, some kitchen tools and a cute slice of chocolate cream pie! My only concern at this point is the spacing of the two mixers at the bottom of the piece — it seems to be the only part of the pattern that touches the border.
I think I might hold off on stitching that piece until the surrounding area is released later this year.
I love being able to go straight into stitching without having to spend a ton of time in the designing phase and if I get done early with May’s portion of the piece, I also bought myself the Fibery Friends Sampler, that I can’t wait to work on!
I am totally lusting after a couple of their other patterns, like this one, and this one, and this one, but I don’t usually frame my pieces on picture frames, so I’m a little weary of the patterns that are obviously designed for a rectangular frame…
